The Antarctic Science Foundation Ltd (ASF) was established in late 2017 with the aim of raising science funding and building opportunities for public-private partnerships to conduct new and iconic scientific research endeavours, and building a greater public understanding of Antarctica. It is intended that this research will enhance the understanding and protection of the Antarctic, Southern Ocean and subantarctic natural environments. The ASF is in the early stages of its establishment and this position will play a vital role in shaping the future of the organisation.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors and based in Hobart, the Executive Director will be required to transform the Foundation from its formative stage into a visible, viable and important component of global Antarctic research efforts. You will provide executive leadership in planning, developing, and implementing programs of private funding support for advancing Antarctic science and liaise with the ASF Board of Directors and other such boards and groups that may be formed for fundraising, grant administration, and membership purposes. You will be responsible for the operations of the organisation including fundraising and membership programs and the development of key partnerships and working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
If you have ever held a desire to build an organisation from scratch and truly make a difference, then this is the challenge for you. The successful applicant will be a dynamic and influential leader with proven agility in thinking, planning and prioritising of operational and strategic initiatives. Your proven success in managing a business or not-for-profit organisation, together with demonstrated experience with a diversity of fundraising streams will ensure you succeed in this role.
