We employ over 1,450 people in a diverse range of roles including engineering, customer service, administration, finance, family, youth and children's services, sport and recreation, health, parks and gardens, planning, arts and management.

The Community Development team sits within the Libraries and Social Development Department managing Council’s Indigenous, Multicultural and Positive Ageing portfolios.

The Derrimut Weelam Gathering Place (DWGP) is located at 200 Bay Trail, Mordialloc. It was established to provide a culturally safe environment for Indigenous community members to gather, meet and establish a connection to each other and local culture.

The role

The City of Kingston has secured external funding to assist in the activation of the DWGP. We are seeking an Officer to join the Community Development team and report to the Coordinator Community Development.

Your role is to:

  • Work with the DWGP Steering Committee to improve engagement of the local community
  • Organise and facilitate programming and activities at the venue and online
  • Promote the DWGP to new and potential users to maximise use of the facility

About you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills for a variety of audiences
  • Experience in the management of events and/or community consultation
  • Knowledge and experience in working with Indigenous communities
