An exciting opportunity exists for a full time Program Manager to oversee the Life Without Barriers Community Managed Mental Health program in Far North Queensland based in Cairns. The position will be responsible for ensuring a high quality of care to clients, compliance with legislation, quality standards, contractual requirements, internal policy and clinical best practice.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Provision of a reference from an Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander person regarding your ability to satisfy the supplementary Selection Criteria required for this position.
- At least three years' experience of working in either health, mental health, community work, or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programmes.
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Services or a related discipline.
- A well-developed knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mental health issues including risk factors, community stressors and culturally appropriate interventions.
- Assessment and planning skills including developing individualised and innovative solutions to meet client need.
- Experience of developing and delivering group or community activities or initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience in team leadership and management.
- Demonstrated communication and engagement skills, including verbal, written and negotiation.
- Demonstrated ability in time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work within and demonstrate the LWB Way in all interactions.
- An established knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures and the issues affecting Indigenous people in contemporary Australian society.
- Work in collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural advisors where appropriate regarding appropriate care and engages meaningfully to develop culturally appropriate care in collaboration with these support networks.
- Seek to understand and work within local cultural protocols and kinship structures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
