We have 2 Part time positions available.  You will be responsible for providing support with activities of daily living and developing, implementing, and monitoring Individual Plans’ including personal care.

The house has 6 male clients. Some of the clients do have significant anxiety (BOC).

All clients are ambulant and manual handling is at a minimum. There is no lifting. The use of positive programming, active support and independence is fostered.

We are based in the hub of Bentleigh and have a program which involves considerable community access for all clients.

We have a group home vehicle and use public transport a lot.

While there are some significant health issues eg: epilepsy, choking risk, these are managed and do not impact heavily on independent living and community access.

All clients attend day program during the day. The house has a sleepover model. Staff to client ratios are high.

There are administrative requirements (eg: documentation, recording funds) which staff share.

The 2 available roster lines are:

Fortnightly splits: 67:30/67:30 – a mix of morning, day and Afternoon shifts – Including 4 Sleep over shifts per month.

Or

Fortnightly splits:16:00/16:00  - Low hours per week – A mix of morning & afternoon shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the day-to-day running of the house
  • Develop planned activities in line with policies and guidelines
  • Liaise with family members, medical services, departmental services, and external services to help meet client needs
  • Administer medication treatments and therapies according to prescribed protocols or otherwise, seek appropriate medical assistance
  • Implement development programs and identify and support learning opportunities

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certificate 4 in Disability
  • A current First Aid Certificate
  • A current unrestricted Driver Licence
  • A commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs, skills, abilities, and personal goals of people with disabilities
  • A hands-on leader and team player with positive behaviour support experience and leadership capabilities able to actively promote and provide best practice support to clients whilst supervising and mentoring other team members
  • The ability to develop a positive relationship with service users and to support their Individual Personal Plan
  • Ability to apply behaviour management strategies in a complex and challenging environment
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency is essential
  • Demonstrated compliance with NDIS requirements for Disability Support Workers
