MND Queensland is a not-for-profit, member-based organisation that provides information, advice and support services for people living with MND in Queensland. We offer MND specific Support Coordination, Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology as well as a mobility equipment hire service. Our client base has grown over the last 2 years as our services have broadened and we have established a reputation as a provider of quality MND specific services. We are looking to expand our Occupational Therapy capacity to ensure our clients have access to vital clinical supports.
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to work with people with MND to:
- Provide tailored advice and support to people living with MND, their families, carers and health professionals
- Provide an assessment, intervention and follow up service for all clients
- Complete assessments for complex home modifications
- Trial and prescribe mobility aids for hire or purchase including the completion of NDIS AT requests
- Plan, refer and assist people with MND to navigate funding, services and health systems
- Represent the needs of people with MND to NDIA, My Aged Care, service providers and other funded agencies
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing person-centred, responsive and timely advice and support that includes:
- Assessing the needs of people living with MND
- Planning to address current and future needs
- Making appropriate referrals and negotiating services for people living with MND
- Completing Access requests and Pre-planning for NDIS funded clients
- Supporting NDIS funded clients to meet their defined goals through accessing appropriate services
- Supporting people over the age of 65 through assessment and equipment provision and family support
- Acting as the interface with health professionals and service providers
- Provision of education to health professionals and community groups
- Occasional regional travel
