ABOUT THE ROLE

We seek a skilled individual to work in our Aboriginal Programs team, providing outreach and support to our families at Mercy Hospital for Women, Heidelberg.

• This is an Aboriginal identified position, only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply as this position is exempt under the Special Measures Provision of s12(1) of the Equal Opportunity Act (Vic).
• Working in Aboriginal Programs, Mercy Hospital for Women.
• As part of a multi-disciplinary team, provide outreach and support to promote health and well-being for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Women and their families.
• Assist and advise on the development of culturally sensitive programs, especially in the priority area of the Nangnak Wan Myeek policy framework.
• Assist in the identification of barriers for Aboriginal families in accessing health care.

ABOUT YOU

• Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to the Victorian Aboriginal community, culture, values and women’s and children's health needs.
• High level skills in the provision of support and advocacy to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
• Well-developed communication skills and a demonstrated capacity to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• You are a dedicated and motivated individual.

Mercy Hospital for Women is a fully accredited Level 6 Public Specialist Teaching Hospital providing both public and private patient care through maternity services, neonatology and paediatrics, perioperative services, gynaecology, women's health and associated health, support and diagnostic services. We are a major teaching hospital and specialist referral centre with the medical, nursing, midwifery and allied health expertise to treat the most complex obstetric, neonatal and gynaecological cases.
