About the Role:

Unique opportunity to provide pastoral care to patients and families, at all stages of life. The patient population has diverse pastoral, spiritual and religious needs. This position will expand your spiritual assessment skills and your capacity to respond with person centred, spiritual care responses.

  • Casual position - to backfill permanent staff, when required (can be for extended periods)
  • Work available at Werribee Mercy Hospital and Mercy Hospital for Women
  • Assess, triage and respond to diverse pastoral needs in a variety of clinical areas
  • Promote holistic care by contributing positively to the multi-disciplinary team and making appropriate referrals as needed
  • You will work collaboratively with the pastoral care team to respond to identified needs

About You:

  • Completed at least two units of Clinical Pastoral Education or equivalent supervised pastoral care training.
  • A Bachelor of Theology or relevant graduate qualifications (that is - eligible for membership of Spiritual Care Australia)
  • Previous pastoral care experience in a healthcare context preferable
  • Sound understanding of the scope of pastoral care for patients with ill health, in transition, and loss and bereavement at all stages of life
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively as an Allied Health clinician within a multi- disciplinary team
  • A willingness to adapt, be flexible and learn a new culture
