About the role:

The LEAP Cultural Liaison Officer will work closely with Western Melbourne Chin Community and MiCare project coordinator to provide cultural expertise, advice and support around project development, co-design and implementation of youth-focused activities. The role will also provide support around promoting activities, facilitating linkages/referrals, communicating key program information to community members, and enhancing the provision of high quality community services to people from the Chin community.

To be considered for the position you must have:

Qualifications

  • A qualification relevant to the role and function of this position will be beneficial. For example, Social Work, Community Services, Youth Work, Community Development, etc.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s licence and access to a private vehicle are essential

Skills/Experience

  • Relevant cultural and linguistic background to a new, emerging or existing Chin community group
  • Experience working/volunteering within the community and advocating for individuals and families
  • Strong community engagement and coordination skills of community development projects
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking community development projects inline with contemporary practices
  • Basic computer skills that includes understanding of email, word processing and spreadsheets
  • Able to demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the challenges experienced by new and emerging communities, specifically young people and their parents

A police check with no disclosable outcome is required by MiCare for this position.

In accordance with Victorian Public Health order medicare evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination, including dose 3 is a requirement of the position.

Current flu vaccination is highly encouraged but not essential in this role.
