About the Company

Mind Australia Limited is a leading community managed specialist mental health service provider. We have been supporting people dealing with the day-to-day impacts of mental illness, as well as their families, friends and carers for 40 years.

About the Role

Burnside HASP is a 24/7 residential support service for people living independently with mental illness. The program supports up to 20 clients at any time, with flexible support hours dependent on the individual client’s needs.

The aim of the program is to promote greater self-management of mental and general health, to increase access to community life and develop individual’s capacity to live as independently as possible.

As a Community Mental Health Practitioner you will work to assist with the provision of services to clients, families and carers in line with Mind’s Model of Recovery Orientated Practice in a manner that supports, empowers and inspires hope.

Duties include:

  • Work within a 24 hour 7 day per week rotating roster including weekends and active overnights
  • Work in partnership with clinical services and other key stakeholders
  • Develop rapport and trusting relationships with clients
  • Facilitate and design group work aligned with individual recovery plans
  • Assist client to build networks and support which will help them once they have exited the service

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health related field as designated by Mind
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A positive attitude to the work
  • The ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Innovative and think outside of the square
