• Water Sensitive Urban Design Officer, Notting Hill, City of Monash
• Full time (2 year fixed term contract), Band 7, $98,680.51 - $ 110,430.19 p/a, plus superannuation

The Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) Officer will join a passionate Sustainability team and will shape this new role to elevate the profile of WSUD across Council projects, private developments and community. The role will assist in delivering the Environmental Sustainability Strategy (2016-2026) and the Water Feasibility Study (2019) recommendations. As Monash’s WSUD Champion, the WSUD Officer will develop relationships across Council to build capacity of officers and embed WSUD as business as usual.

About the Role

The WSUD Officer will work across teams to support understanding of WSUD and to increase WSUD across projects. To achieve this, the role will:

• Advocate for and introduce better approaches to WSUD as business as usual
• Lead collaboration across teams to develop understanding of how to embed WSUD in projects
• Draw on specialist knowledge and experience to guide and advise on WSUD for Council officers, developers and community
• Develop processes for achieving and reporting on achievements

The successful candidate will have:

• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of best practice approach to water sensitive urban design, including but not limited to embedding WSUD in Council projects, proving advice to developers, increasing knowledge of community, and building capacity of staff
• Demonstrated experience in gain cooperation and assistance from others, to deliver defined responsibilities
• A Degree or Diploma level qualification in environmental management, sustainability, community engagement and education (or relevant field) along with experience in the subject matter, or, lesser qualification(s) with 4-years + specialist experience
• Ability in managing time, setting priorities, achieving goals and meeting deadlines
• A high level of self-motivation, initiative, problem solving and analytical skills

Additional requirement:

This position is a Melbourne Water Living Rivers two year grant funded role.
