Our Critical Care Program at Monash Health is looking for your expertise for a position at Dandenong ICU as an Equipment Nurse.
Dandenong hospital has an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) which is a dedicated 14 beds combining ICU and HDU, and is staffed to a 10 ICU bed equivalent and specialises in Colorectal, General Surgery, ENT, Orthopaedics, Plastic’s, Vascular and General Medicine.
About the Role
We are seeking an Intensive Care Nurse currently working within the Intensive Care Unit at Monash Health to work within the role of Equipment Nurse – Part time ongoing. This position is 0.2 EFT, 16 hrs/fortnight.
- Order consumables (both disposable and non-disposable) and maintain the supply stock
- Arrange trials for new equipment
- Assist with the development of others by providing clinical support and education to colleagues related to the equipment
- Ensure equipment is cleaned in accordance with CSSD, infection control and other relevant procedures
- Be responsible for dismantling, cleaning, storage and reassembly of all equipment, or supervising staff performing the same
- Ensure respiratory equipment is maintained and safe for use as per the maintenance, quality control and cleaning schedule, including regular circuit changes
- Assist nursing and medical staff with troubleshooting equipment issues when in use on a patient
- Provide departmental advice on equipment to wards and other parties
- Liaise with staff within the unit and other relevant departments, in relation to changes to, or problems with equipment and supplies
- Maintain records of equipment and ensure borrowed equipment is returned
- Source and provide training for equipment required for research projects within the unit
- Maintain exceptional knowledge of current respiratory equipment and ventilator technology
- Maintain effective working relationships with health professionals within the unit and in areas outside the unit (such as biomedical engineering, infection control, CSSD, Supply and Procurement)
- Participate in unit education and attend relevant meetings as required
- Provide orientation and education to new, existing staff members and interim equipment nurses
- Support Nurse Manager (NM) in developing and implementing strategies to meet agreed financial outcomes
- Assist with patient care when appropriate
- Perform other duties as delegated by the Nurse Manager
About You
- High degree of knowledge and clinical experience in Critical Care Nursing
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the Equipment nurse role
