The School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine is the leading School of Public Health in the region and plays a vital role in improving human health and health care globally, through research, education, and advocacy. We excel in research methods and delivery with an emphasis on governance and ethics, biostatistics and epidemiology, and translation and implementation of our outputs.

We proudly announce an opening for a Professor of Cancer Research in our esteemed institution. The Tony Charlton Chair is a prestigious position that comes with a wealth of opportunities to conduct cutting-edge research and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the field.
The Tony Charlton Chair of Oncology is a key leadership position within the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (SPHPM), established to foster the translation, acceleration and transfer of research findings into clinical practice. The primary purpose of the role is to exercise a special responsibility in providing leadership and fostering excellence in clinical and health services oncology research, across the School’s cancer research program, within the university and the broader community, both scholarly and in general.
The role further strengthens strong collaborations between Alfred Health and Monash University and is expected to interact with government bodies, speciality groups (nationally and internationally), and key stakeholders including staff and students. There is opportunity to grow and shape the program in line with research interests and priorities.
As a Professor of Cancer Research, you will have the opportunity to make groundbreaking discoveries that have the potential to change the lives of millions of people worldwide. You will also have access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources to support your research, including the latest technologies and equipment.
In addition to your research duties, you will also be responsible for teaching and mentoring the next generation of cancer researchers.
