Mutual Muse is expanding into a bigger (3x the size!) brighter and more fabulous store in Northcote, opening early 2023 and we need to bolster our team. Who we are…

Mutual Muse is a place to buy and sell gently used second-hand clothing, shoes and accessories. We have two brick & mortar stores, Brunswick and Thornbury (soon to be Northcote), and an Online shop selling a curated selection of pieces from our stores.

To succeed as an Assistant Store Manager at Mutual Muse you will;

  • have a keen interest in fashion and a good knowledge-base of local and international brands
  • have an understanding of the circular-fashion economy and support its values and ethics
  • have good research skills and an eye for detail
  • have proven experience in customer service
  • have the ability to think objectively, with nuance, and occasionally under time-pressure
  • have experience managing and working within a team
  • possess great communication and problem-solving skills
  • posses excellent initiative
  • demonstrated organisation and time management skills

What your role will involve…

In this role you will assist the Store Manager in;

  • Managing and motivating staff. You will lead by example and provide an excellent framework and supportive space for staff to achieve their goals.
  • Buying! You will undertake ongoing training to be a Mutual Muse Buyer. You will build on your existing knowledge of fashion to become a confident and proficient Buyer as well as contribute to the evolution of our training and pricing guides.
  • Implementing and upholding systems, policies and procedures whether existing or new.
  • Representing and advocating for the business via effective communication with customers and stakeholders both in store and via written communication.
  • Effective communication with staff and management via various channels.
  • Ongoing performance reviews and role development with your Store Manager as well as opportunities to work with your Area Manager and Executive Team.
  • All general retail duties including opening + closing a store, sales, general housekeeping as well as social media content creation.

This will be a full-time or part-time role with one weekend day expected. We can offer a set schedule with room for flexibility.
