We are seeking an all rounder who is flexible and adaptable to support a family with five people with disability including three young adults and two teenagers to live a meaningful life. The young adults and teenager’s Mum requires someone who can be consistent and step in to help her. There are a number of support workers assisting the family everyday and they’re looking for a competent and confident self starter who is able to take a lead role and motivate/guide others.
The role includes in-home support with personal care, daily living tasks, office hand to Mum and assistance with other team members, occasional cleaning, Mum’s second helper, occasional cooking or teaching cooking. Support out in the community is also required, driving to appointments and supporting community engagement, a general all rounder who can take a lead role within the home and help with whatever is required.
The available position is for 3-5 days a week, negotiable, 9am-4pm (Monday-Friday) with occasional weekend hours or overnights also part of the role.
The position offers an attractive salary package and the positions are employed privately with Co-ordination support provided through My Place WA.
Knowledge and understanding of Autism and avoidant or challenging behaviours would be an advantage. As would an ability to gently guide/motivate people to engage in the community and leave the home. The young adults and teenagers generally connect with younger people and would likely connect with someone under 35years.
There are a number of indoor cats in the home and due to allergies the family requires a non smoker.
