About the role

Reporting to the CEO and partnering with the senior executive team, the Finance Director will drive NASCA’s financial policy and direction while also being an active participant in NASCA’s overall strategy. Finance Director responsibilities include accurate reporting of financial results; overall financial management and financial planning; financial reporting to the CEO and to the Board on performance, financial trends and insights; budget preparation, review and monitoring; business modelling, forecasting; and assessing financial risks and opportunities.

The Finance Director is accountable for the provision of high-quality financial support to the CEO with the objective of supporting sustainable growth and efficiency across the organisation, whilst understanding and mitigating business risks, overseeing and optimising investments, cash flow planning, and preparing and tracking financial and operational metrics (KPIs).

Ultimately, the Finance Director will ensure we manage our resources in the most beneficial way and help maximise our funding while minimising risk to achieve NASCA’s mission.

Must Haves

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA), with a degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant field.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in delivering quality, timely and accurate financial reports, providing financial planning and management, understanding and application of accounting standards, risk management and forecasting methods.
  • Demonstrated strategic financial leadership and management experience at executive level.
  • Demonstrated understanding of business and financial and accounting process management, with ability to initiate and effectively implement continuous improvement as well as major change.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and managing effective stakeholder relationships at all levels, internal and external, and across a range of financial acumen.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting and financial management software including Xero.
  • Experience in the NFP sector or a familiarity with the NFP operating environment.
  • Cross-cultural intelligence, including knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ experiences.
