the role

The People and Culture Manager is a generalist HR role, supporting the whole-of-organisation HR function.

The People and Culture Manager looks after the day-to-day operational HR activities across recruitment, onboarding, employee development, performance management, and team wellbeing, as well as contributing to continuous improvement and strategic initiatives to enhance the growing organisation. The role reports into the Operations Director and supports team leaders, managers and the NASCA Executive on all human resourcing matters.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supportive Workplaces

  • Support managers with engagement, retention, development and management of employees across the organisation.
  • Provide guidance to NASCA managers and employees about HR processes and practices, awards, legislation and employee agreements.
  • Manage NASCA’s HR platform (Employment Hero).
  • Report on key HR metrics.
  • Champion staff wellbeing initiatives that engage, excite, and unite employees and teams.
  • Contribute to the development and update of NASCA policies and procedures.

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Lead recruitment activities, including collaborating with managers to develop Job Packs, and advertising vacant positions.
  • Manage and review candidate applications based on role requirements, and provide feedback to hiring managers for consideration.
  • Liaise with candidates and interview panel members to coordinate interview details, and capture interview feedback.
  • Support managers through recruitment decisions.
  • Draft and distribute employment agreements and variations.
  • Work with successful applicants to achieve pre-commencement probity and compliance requirements.
  • Support managers to plan and deliver new starter inductions.

Employee Development and Training

  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of NASCA’s learning and development tools and resources.
  • Advise on, identify and facilitate internal and external training needs and opportunities.
  • Track progress of staff performance and learning, including updating electronic registers and records.

Desired Skills and Experiences

  • Qualifications in Human Resources or a similar field.
  • Experience working in a generalist people/operations role, including recruitment, induction, employee development, and general HR advisory.
  • Excellent communication and collaborations skills.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people - candidates, colleagues and organisations.
  • Cross-cultural intelligence, including knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ experiences.
  • Commitment to the values and long-term goals of NASCA.
  • WWCC and AFP Clearance.
