The Organisation

The First People of the Millewa-Mallee Aboriginal Corporation (FPMMAC) are a community of family groups who identify as Ngintait and Latji Latji that have maintained a continuous connection to their Traditional Country from the initial period of colonisation to present. They are the Traditional Owners and Custodians of Country in the north west of Victoria and represent the rights and interests of all First Peoples of the Millewa-Mallee.

In their efforts to continue and expand their connection and cultural activities to their Traditional Country, FPMMAC deliver a range of programs focused on conservation, environmental restoration, natural resource management and ancestral reburial and protection in addition to cultural and heritage services. These programs and services are integral in creating economic opportunity, employment, expanding traditional languages and supporting the Aboriginal community.

The Role

Reporting to the Chair and working with the Board, you will be integral in driving the strategy and the operational management of the organisation and support the growth and quality of the programs being delivered.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing inspirational, consultative and confident leadership to the team
  • Identifying further funding opportunities for future sustainability
  • Networking, negotiating and representing FPMMAC to government, community members, partner organisations and other stakeholders
  • Delivering on strategic objectives including ensuring high quality governance across the organisation
  • Funding, compliance, risk and other associated reporting requirements

Skills Required

You are an accomplished CEO or Executive leader with skills ideally developed within an organisation that understands the issues, needs, and promotes the rights of the Indigenous community.

Additionally you will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Develop and implement strategy, good governance and inspire a clear vision
  • Provide persuasive, influential and inspirational leadership
  • A track record in reporting to or working with a Board
  • Build trusted and respectful relationships with a broad range of stakeholders across government agencies, community members and partner organisations
  • Sound financial management including managing funded service models and operational excellence
  • Foster and leverage political networks to ensure or enhance ongoing government funding
