On 9th April 2025, it was announced that the James Martin Institute (JMI) is set to be renamed the Australian Public Policy Institute (APPI), following consultation with our government and university partners.
A rare opportunity to lead a dynamic events program for a fast-growing, for-purpose Australian charity that works at the intersection of government and universities. Come and help us bring policymakers and experts together to help solve a wide range of policy challenges for the benefit of all Australians.
The Australian Public Policy Institute (APPI) has an exciting opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills to deliver an expanding program of events. APPI seeks an individual who can connect with new and existing audiences and is passionate about running engaging and informative events.
As part of the dynamic and high-performing Engagement & Partnerships Team, working across the Institute, this role will be critical in meeting APPI’s mission of transforming public policy and elevating public discourse on government policy solutions.
Launched in 2021 as a joint-venture between government and a coalition of universities, the Institute is an independent, non-partisan policy charity dedicated to evidence-based public policy. We help drive innovative solutions to complex challenges across a wide range of areas – from AI to domestic violence, and from housing to intergenerational equity and future energy transitions. We have a high-performing, positive, and supportive organisational culture.
Do you have a passion for developing and delivering a high-quality events program that connects with new audiences? Do you have a proven track record of successfully executing both in-person and virtual events, large and small? If you are detail-oriented, a self-starter and a practical problem-solver, then we think you’d be well suited to this role. Experience engaging with senior and high-profile delegates would be an advantage.
We're seeking an Events Coordinator to deliver exceptional events to engage with new and existing audiences, showcase APPI’s policy projects, and provide high-quality learning and training sessions to policymakers and researchers.
As a member of the Engagement & Partnerships Team, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of Institute events, from managing invitations and promotion to communications with participants, speakers, and vendors. This ranges from several small workshops to large annual conferences with high-profile speakers, in addition to organising new event series and virtual training programs.
