The New South Wales Teachers Federation is the registered trade union representing NSW public school teachers in pre-schools, infants, primary and secondary schools and TAFE Institutes. About the Role
Federation is recruiting a Human Resources Manager. The HR Manager drives and supports the organisation through best practice Human Resources (HR) strategy and operational HR management. Operations cover a broad generalist spectrum such as proactive HR advice and operational services, recruitment, induction, workforce planning, staff entitlements, learning and development, employee/industrial relations, injury management and WH&S.
About You
To be considered you will need to clearly demonstrate the following essential skills and experience:
- Qualifications in business/HR related field.
- Minimum of 5 years well-developed experience in human resource management practices and knowledge of contemporary industrial/employee relations matters.
- Relevant qualifications and/or equivalent skills and knowledge in WHS & Injury Management.
- High level stakeholder management experience and demonstrated strong leadership skills, including the ability to ensure compliance with legislation, standards, directives, policies and procedures.
- Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate positive outcomes and resolve conflict.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to develop HR policies and procedures, and prepare correspondence.
- High level organisational skills with the ability to multi-task under pressure and use initiative within a changing environment.
- Sound computer skills with demonstrated experience utilising HR Information Systems and the ability to report and analyse HR/workforce data.
- High level confidentiality and strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail, specifically in correspondence and manual records/electronic databases.
- Capacity to build line management skill levels in all aspects of staff management, recruitment, induction, probation, performance review, staff training, coaching, managing difficult situations, WH&S responsibilities, employment law, risk management etc.
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative and sound judgement when making decisions and to work unsupervised.
- A proactive work style consistent with a participative team approach.
