It is an exciting time to be part of Maternal Child Health & Immunisation Services. Having recently completed a full review of the service, Council is investing in MCH&I’s future, strengthening its contribution to high quality outcomes for the community. To guide this journey, a new strategic plan is under development. As the leader of the Service, the Coordinator MCH&I will play a key role in shaping the future by implementing the strategic plan, leading an engaged team, building strong stakeholder relationships and delivering an outstanding service.
Key responsibilities will include:
Using contemporary practice, service improvement and excellence to respond to the needs of the community regarding Maternal & Child Health care you will have three major functional responsibilities:
Leadership and staff management
- Manage all facets of the operations of the Maternal & Child Health team including contract management of Immunisation and other external funded services
- Provide effective operational management and leadership using the progressive universalism approach ensuring compliance with MCH service standards, CoPP policies & procedures and guidelines.
Strategic Service Planning and Development
- Direct and lead the Maternal & Child Health Development team to implement current policy, continuous improvement, evaluation and advocacy
Specialist liaison and advocate
- Provide guidance and specialist advice on children, to mothers, parents or care givers reflecting best Integrated Service practice.
- Conduct periodic service reviews to identify and implement service and business process improvements in line with industry best practice
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Victorian Nurses Board registration as a nurse Division 1 with additional qualifications in Midwifery and Maternal & Child Health.
- Strategic and critical thinking ability to contribute to the development and implementation of long term strategies, Integrated Service developments, staffing and outcomes from change management
- Experience and ability to lead the MCH team to respond to the needs of a diverse community
- Knowledge and skill to plan and monitor the financials
- Demonstrated interpersonal, leadership and people management skills to encourage employee contribution, goal setting and performance improvement
- Proven ability to develop relationships with service providers, government bodies, networks and other councils
- Proven capacity to manage competing priorities and stakeholder expectations
- Current Drivers Licence
Relevant experience leading clinical governance in a community based service and Local Government is also an advantage.
This is a permanent part-time position with an attractive remuneration package in the range of $106,000 per annum for part time dependent on qualifications and experience.
