About the role

Working under the guidance of the Chief Executive Officer, Business Intelligence Analyst responsibilities are to:

  • Work closely with the CEO on budget, forecasting preparation and relevant variance analysis
  • Preparation and presentation of Board and Audit & Risk reports
  • Establish a systemized approach to data analytics in OTA
  • Provide stakeholders with access to timely, accurate and insightful dashboards and reporting to enable informed decision making and drive business performance.
  • Identify and validates internal and external data sets generated from a diverse range of sources
  • Apply data analysis, data modelling, and quality assurance techniques, based upon a detailed understanding of business processes, to establish, modify or maintain data structures and associated components
  • Determine costs/benefits of projects, initiatives and changes
  • Support senior management to develop dashboards, reports and control systems
  • Make data more accessible, understandable and usable by creating statistical graphics, plots and information graphics to visually communicate quantitative messages
  • Review and redevelop reports to ensure their relevance to changes in the business while automating and optimising wherever possible
  • Champion an organisational understanding of the role of data
  • Increase digital literacy and skills across the business and Board
  • Prepare financial modelling for new revenue streams
  • Collaborate with membership database developers to create reporting suites in Tableau to assist portfolios to track performance
  • Utilise analytics to identify trends and customise the member experience through digital marketing and personalisation
  • Present membership data geographically, and overlay this with CPD profitability to determine the location, practice area and mode of delivery to form the CPD calendar
  • Prepare financial modelling for grant applications
  • Investigate opportunities to integrate annual award processes using a digital platform
  • Undertake benchmarking activities across portfolios to compare OTA performance with other associations/industries

Skills and experience

You are a team player who has a minimum of six years experience as a Business Analyst, preferably including experience in membership organisations using relevant systems.

A finance or other relevant degree qualification is an advantage. As is demonstrated skills in high level data gathering and analysis.

You will have strong written and verbal communications skills enabling you to work as part of a team and undertake presentations and support your high level stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.

Knowledge of SQL and how to query a database is a must along with a good understanding of how databases and servers are administered and structured.

Must have experience using and implementing a data visualisation tool such as Tableau or Power BI.

The Selection Criteria for the position are:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Business Analyst preferably in a membership organisation
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail, consistency and accuracy
  • Knowledge and ability to work with Tableau Business Intelligence tools, CRM platforms and MS Excel
  • Strong knowledge and experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management
  • Ability to understand and apply statistical concepts
  • Ability to think creatively and problem solve by identifying the data and analytical methods required to provide the required business insights
  • Adept at report writing and presenting to audiences at all levels within the organisation
  • Project management experience, managing priorities and deadlines
  • Experience in requirements gathering and interpretation
  • Ability to work autonomously within a team environment
  • Business process modelling
  • Bachelor's Degree in a finance discipline, or related qualification
  • Understanding and adherence to statutory WH&S responsibilities
