About the role

  • Hybrid and Remote working options within Australia will be considered.
  • Salary $95,384 - $100,220 per annum plus, Cultural remuneration package

This position is only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants in accordance with relevant Commonwealth, State and Territory legislation.

Reporting to the Manager, Policy this position will contribute strongly to the policy work of Our Watch, with the aim of driving nationwide change to prevent violence against women with a strong focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls.

Lead the Our Watch policy priorities relating to prevention of violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls, monitor the policy landscape and emerging policy debates and identify and respond to opportunities for Our Watch to engage in public policy processes.

This includes the identification, establishment, maintenance, and support of stakeholder relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and organisations nationally as well as the internal work of the Director, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Steering Committee, CEO and Board.

About you

You will have experience developing and providing expert, evidence-based policy analysis and advice to governments, policy makers and other decision-makers to encourage, inform and support effective policy approaches to the primary prevention of violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls in Australia. This involves developing and drafting background papers, position papers and policy submissions, providing policy advice and contributing policy content to briefings, recommendations, and correspondence to inform Our Watch engagement with Ministers, senior government representatives, Parliamentarians, and other decision-makers.

The successful candidate will have the ability to identify and foster productive and collaborative relationships with non-government stakeholders. You will have a strong understanding of gender equality and intersectionality. You will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to adapt communications for various requirements and you will have experience utilising opportunities with research and evaluation to influence outcomes that will support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls in Australia.
