The Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC) uses litigation, public policy development, communication and training to promote social justice in a practical and strategic way.We are a respected independent, non-profit organisation.
‘Towards Truth’ is a collaborative partnership of the Indigenous Law Centre at UNSW (ILC) and PIAC. The project will provide practical, foundational support for the truth-telling process called for in the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
The Research Assistant will support the pilot phase of the Towards Truth project by helping to develop the methodology and legal and policy research plan for the project. The Research Assistant will also help with coordinating, monitoring and supporting the legal and policy research work of the research team (comprising pro bono lawyers and interns) and establishing a Steering Committee.
Applicants will be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. The applicant will have demonstrated research and analytical skills, and understanding of the law, good interpersonal skills and be committed to the implementation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
