About us

PICYS Drug Education Support Service is the only Western Australian Mental Health Commission funded DESS position working in a non crisis transitional supported accommodation service across scattered properties, unlike the crisis accommodation services operating with a congregate residential household.

The position can be 0.8 fte up to full time, mainly on Mondays to Fridays between 9am and 5pm in West Leederville, WA.

  • Ability to work alongside young people experiencing homelessness, disconnection from a supportive family or similar.
  • Ability to provide Alcohol and Other Drug  (AoD) education to young people both in Brief Interventions and focused Groupwork.
  • Ability to provide AoD practice guidance and deliver internal professional development to Youthwork team colleagues.
  • Ability to work in a strength based approach, acknowledging harm minimisation and trauma informed practices.
  • Ability to work as the specialist AoD worker in a team approach and maintain Drug Education Support Services (DESS) case notes and data collection.
  • Suitable qualification and or experience in both Youthwork and Alcohol and Other Drug (AoD) services.
