The role offers the opportunity to:
- Future-proof the world's largest Little Penguin colony by building environmental resilience to reduce the risk of bushfires and minimise heat wave events
- Work with key stakeholders to deliver cultural compliance, weed management, vegetation removal and revegetation
- Manage all stages of delegated project grants from inception to delivery, including planning, budgets, procurement, consultation, and oversight
The Role
This three-year position will deliver the key priority actions to future-proof the world's largest Little Penguin colony. This innovative and evidence-led project on Summerland Peninsula will build resilience of Little Penguins and other wildlife against heatwave events and reduce risk of bushfire by implementing key priorities identified by the Emergency Victoria Risk and Resilience grant, the Nature Parks Fire Management Plan, and the Nature Parks Enterprise Risk Register.
Key tasks/Responsibilities for the role include:
- Manage all stages of project from inception to delivery, including planning, budgets, procurement, consultation and oversight
- Work closely with relevant stakeholders and engage closely with the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation to carry out environmental actions such as cultural heritage surveys and compliance, weed management, vegetation removal and revegetation.
- Obtain relevant permits and approvals, procure goods and services and assemble and coordinate contractors and staff to ensure effective delivery of project
- Manage budgets and timelines, ensure quality assurance, and implement and manage project changes to achieve desired project outcomes
- Develop strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders for consultation, engagement, and reporting purposes
Position Skills / Interpersonal Skills
- Sound understanding of project management principles and processes
- Understanding of OHS Legislation and practices
- Understanding of the Fire Management Plan actions and objectives for the Nature Parks
- Sound understanding of Cultural Heritage compliance.
- Experience in external stakeholders’ engagement. E.g., Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP), local community and volunteers.
Qualifications / Certificates / Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Management or Project Management, or equivalent relevant work experience
- Police Check
- Working with Children Check
- Drivers Licence
- First Aid Level II and CPR
