• 12 Month Graduate Development Internship with the RISC Association (Recreation, Independence and Socialisation in the Community)

RISC is seeking new graduates who want to be proactive in ensuring the are confident in working with people with intellectual and physical disabilities before they embark on their career path. This internship is specifically targeting graduates from the fields of Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Speech therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work, Psychology, Community and Human Services and Education but other fields will be considered.

This 12 month internship is designed to advance the practical skills of new graduates to assist them to confidently and responsibly step into the professional career with a solid skill set in rapport building, communicating with people with disability , goal planning, advocacy, NDIS awareness and staff training. The program covers many of administrative processes and protocols undertaken in the sector.

Most importantly the development of a thorough understanding of both the lives of the people being supported and the NDIS framework and legislation, so that you are adding value to your qualification and what you can offer future employers. This Graduate Program has sought to ensure that the clients of our service receive quality applicants with the high motivation for learning and applying themselves wholehearted into the human services field.

Within the year there are numerous training opportunities in both the disability and human service fields to ensure there is specialised skill development. eg Auslan, Positive Behaviour Support and Mental Health First Aid as well as framework related training in Social Role Valorisation. There are a number of unique opportunities offered as well in relation to working with a management committee, quality assurance systems and networking avenues.

Generally participants earn $45,000 to $50,000 across the year and there is capacity to salary package up to $15,000 to reduce your income tax significantly.
