Living Languages provides grassroots training to people, communities and Language Centres in Australia doing language work on the ground in remote, regional and urban areas. We work with people who approach us for support and training, working with them to create tailored training programs and workshops that will best support their language work and goals - whether learning it, teaching it, working in a language centre, or just getting started. Our team works remotely from home around the country and the whole team aims to meet face-to face at least yearly.
Living Languages supports the language maintenance, revitalisation and reclamation work being done on the ground by communities and language centres. We provide training in a range of areas that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to direct the growth or preservation of their languages - for themselves, led by themselves. See https://www.livinglanguages.org.au/training.
We work with experienced language workers and teachers as well as people that are just starting out on their language journeys, providing training that is most relevant to their wants and needs. Our trainers travel to deliver workshop in communities that approach us for training, as well as through online platforms.
Living Languages is seeking a CEO who can provide effective strategic and operational leadership of our people and programs. This is a hands-on position, and you will manage the operations, people and culture, finances and reporting. Our small, dedicated team are located across Australia and you will ensure they are equipped and supported to deliver quality training programs and initiatives to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This is a flexible part-time role (0.7FTE) and you will work from a home office anywhere in Australia. We are offering a fixed-term contract for 11 months from August 2024 – June 2025 with the option to extend. Please note, it is not critical that you have experience as an ED/CEO level to apply for this role.
We strongly encourage people of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background to apply.
