Do you want to develop special interest skills in animal welfare, private practice, anaesthesia, pocket pets or dentals?
Are you interested in upskilling to perform nurse’s consults?
Then it’s time to think about joining the team at RSPCA Victoria!
RSPCA Victoria is a non-government, community-based charity that works to prevent cruelty to animals by actively promoting their care and protection.
Our organisation’s purpose is to work with the community to achieve outstanding animal welfare through education, advocacy, and animal care and protection. RSPCA Victoria is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an environment that is underpinned by our values: respect, consideration, clarity, accountability, expertise and collaboration.
We are currently expanding our veterinary nurse team at Burwood East Veterinary Clinic (Clinic) and are looking for full-time nurses to join us. We are a large Clinic with a rotating staff of approximately 40 nurses and 20 vets, which includes veterinary specialists such as orthopaedic vets, ophthalmologists and sonographers.
Our facility incorporates five operating theatres, eight consulting rooms, four shelter animal hospital wards, two private patient hospital wards, digital x-ray capability, in-house pathology capability and computerised record keeping.
The successful candidate will provide high quality veterinary nursing services to RSPCA Victoria shelter and private patients. This includes, monitoring patients, assisting Veterinarians with surgical procedures and treatments, providing enrichment and care, cleaning and preparing equipment and instruments, and reporting any health and behaviour concerns of animals.
In this role, you will be required to provide a high level of customer service, both verbally and written, to clients and other RSPCA Victoria internal departments and ensure all necessary documentation relating to customer interactions and the management of animals within the veterinary clinic are recorded accurately. Effective performance of the role will require a good working knowledge of veterinary nursing patient care, excellent communication skills, flexibility, and a can-do approach.
Full-time nurses will be required to work 40 hours per week over a 7-day rotating roster, including one weekend on in four and some public holidays. A great benefit of the rotating roster is a four-day weekend, every four weeks due to a monthly RDO as a result of the 40-hour week.
Nurses are rostered in a variety of roles, including hospital wards, theatre, reception, phones, consults, and isolation. Shifts are eight hours plus a one-hour lunch break, with start and finish times variable. Some shifts start at 7am, and some shifts finish at 8pm.
