About the Role

RSPCA Victoria have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced WHS Advisor to join our People & Infrastructure team in a permanent full-time capacity. Reporting to the WHS & Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for monitoring and enhancing the WHS Management System and leading strategies to improve the safety of our people and build a positive health and safety culture at RSPCA Victoria.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the WHS & Facilities Manager, you will:

  • Monitor and enhance the WH&S Management System, ensuring that RSPCA Victoria is compliant with all relevant legislative requirements.
  • Identify, implement and monitor strategies to improve safe work practices across the organisation and build a positive health and safety culture at RSPCA Victoria, including the analysis of safety related data (lead and lag indicators) and the production of reports as required.
  • Provide operational support to managers, employees and volunteers on hazard identification and management, incident reporting, investigations, and implementation and monitoring of corrective actions.
  • Manage the relationship with RSPCA Victoria’s workers compensation insurer and oversee the management of workers compensation claims to ensure the achievement of safe and sustainable return to work outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and review of WH&S policies and procedures to ensure compliance with WH&S legislation and improve work practices.
  • Foster a culture of health, safety and wellbeing, ensuring proactive communication and consultation in relation to workplace health and safety matters across the organisation.

What we are looking for from you

  • Certificate IV in Health and Safety and a Return-to-Work Certification.
  • Previous experience in a similar role that involved the development, implementation, and monitoring of a WHS Management System is essential.
  • Extensive knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety related legislation, regulations and practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging work environment whilst collaborating well with team members and stakeholders.
  • This position also required a national police check and valid driver’s license
