RACE for 2030 (RACE) is committed to accelerate the transition to Reliable, Affordable, Clean Energy for 2030. We are an industry led cooperative research centre established in 2020 with $68.5 million of Commonwealth funding and $350 million of total resources over 10 years to reduce carbon emissions and boost energy productivity.

How will you make an impact?

We are looking for an ambitious and energetic Business Development Manager to help us expand our Partners. You will be the front of the organisation and will have the dedication to create and apply an effective sales strategy.

The goal is to increase our number of partners and to be a part of our journey to decarbonise Australia using innovation.

The Position

Reporting to the Partner Leader, we are offering an initial 4 year contract for a Business Development Manager with proven track record in sophisticated relationship sales based on well-defined value propositions, to recruit and onboard new partners and ensure they gain value from RACE for 2030.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Partner Leader to develop a pipeline of solid opportunities
  • Understand potential partners’ needs and the needs of our research program to develop and deliver value proposition to partners
  • Conduct research to identify new markets and partner needs
  • Arrange business meetings with prospective partners
  • Contract and on-board new RACE partners
  • Keep abreast of partner contributions, current research activities and opportunities to increase partner contributions.
  • Regularly engage both Partner Team and Research Team to ensure potential Partners are aligned to RACE priorities
  • Build long-term relationships with new and existing partners.
  • Ensure Salesforce is up to date
  • Stay abreast of the key issues in the sector as they relate to RACE’s mission

Essential Skills:

  • Business/commerce (or similar) qualifications with a minimum 5-years’ experience, preferably in the energy sector.
  • Strong relationship building, networking and customer service skills
  • Strong influencing and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build compelling value propositions with businesses
  • Lateral thinking to be able to see links between our research and customer needs to develop new opportunities
  • Proven stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Time management & organisational skills
  • Achievement orientated – the need to attain high quality results, set personally challenging yet realistic goals and be outcome driven
  • Continuous improvement focus
  • Enthusiastic with a happy disposition
