About this Role

This is a ‘hands-on’ role and will undertake all financial accounting tasks including payroll, payables, receivables, month-end close, monthly, and year-end financial reporting and financial forecasting and analysis utilising Xero.

The role will suit a Financial Accountant who enjoys working in a small/medium business environment, has a broad range of experience across all aspects of financial accounting and is seeking to make a real difference to their community.

Success in this role looks like:

  • Managing a variety of bookkeeping tasks including accounts receivable and accounts payable including invoicing, payments and receipts.
  • Performing day-to-day general ledger bookings and reconciliations using Xero.
  • Managing fortnightly payroll runs for ~90 staff through Xero based on Tanda timesheet information.
  • Preparing efficient, effective and timely monthly management accounts / reporting and year-end financial reporting, including analysis of key cost and income drivers and ratios.
  • Collaborating with senior management to drive the yearly budgeting process.
  • Preparing monthly and yearly expense and cashflow forecasts using financial models.
  • Continuously develop financial processes and procedures to increase the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting.
  • Driving the implementation of internal financial control improvements.
  • Preparation of BAS, GST, FBT reporting, superannuation, income tax return and other documents required by ATO.
  • Liasing with external tax consultants as required.

About You

You are a community minded individual with a genuine interest in the well-being of young people.

Regarding skills and experience, we are looking for:

  • Tertiary Degree qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Commerce
  • Qualified CA or CPA with strong financial accounting knowledge
  • At least 5 years of relevant financial accounting experience, preferably in a SME or Not-for-Profit using Xero
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting and external audit is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and passion for making a difference in the community
  • Ability to work unsupervised and deliver high quality work to tight deadlines
  • Warm interpersonal skills and effective communication, presentation and organisation skills
  • Completion of Raise selection process including Youth Safety Checks, must hold a current Working with Children (Employee) Check and National Crime Check
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office365 with particularly strong knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent IT skills in Xero, Tanda, Salesforce, and comfortable using cloud systems such as Google Drive

Raise embraces workplace flexibility. Our workforce is designed on a fully flexible workplace model. As such, this position is being offered as a permanent part time role, 15 hours per week, with the days to be agreed by the successful candidate and hiring Team Leader.
