Reading Radio is currently seeking a highly motivated, experienced Station Manager to lead our Brisbane based community radio station, taking responsibility for our daily operations with a focus on continuous business improvement principles.
We are a not for profit community organisation that broadcasts published material to those listeners who may not be able to, or choose not to, read printed material. We are Queensland’s only radio reading service, and broadcast on 1296AM, online on DAB+, streaming through our own Reading Radio 4RPH app, through our website, and on iHeart radio and Community Plus apps. We deliver a 24 hour a day service.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct administration and finance activities associated with daily operations of the Station including:
- Prepare and manage the annual Budget in conjunction with the Board
- Manage all aspects of accounts receivable and payable
- Maintain membership records, including issuing of renewal notices
- Maintain the volunteer register
- Ensure licensing and copyright requirements are met
- Maintain and improve the operations of the organisation such as:
- Ensure paid sponsor messages are tagged and broadcast as per contract
- Manage download of content from various sources
- Maintain adequate records of programming
- Update and distribute station program guide six monthly
- Ensure maintenance of all equipment
- Ensure the Station complies with all local, state and federal human resource and workplace health and safety requirements
- Co-ordinate and supervise the activities of all staff and volunteers at the Station
- Focus on building the business, including activities such as:
- Development and maintenance of a Fundraising strategy
- Identifying and writing Grants applicable to the organisation
- Identifying new opportunities to build the business

- Five (5) years’ experience in a similar role
- A degree or diploma in Business Management
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire people to higher levels of performance
- Ability to build a team environment
- Great negotiation skills
- An acceptance of and the ability to manage change
- An experienced grant writer and fundraiser
- Strong organisation and prioritisation skills
- A passion for excellence and never accepting second best
- A demonstrated understanding of and compassion for the special needs of people with a disability.
