Side By Side Advocacy Inc. is a not-for-profit community based organisation. We promote and uphold the rights, needs and interests of people with intellectual disability through advocacy. We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic person who has a passion for social justice and the rights of people with disability. The person will respond to the advocacy needs of persons with disability in a range of areas including, but not limited to, housing, health, employment, support services, NDIS, guardianship and education. 

Selection criteria

• Demonstrated understanding and commitment to addressing the rights and needs of people with disability and insight into the social vulnerability of people with intellectual disability.
• Ability to manage a diverse workload and demonstrate accountability in the provision of advocacy within tight time frames.
• Knowledge of government services, community networks and resources available for people with disability and ability to build and maintain working partnerships and relationships.
• Knowledge and understanding of the principles of advocacy and the various models of advocacy.
• Suitable tertiary qualifications or commensurate experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant legislations affecting the disability field and a willingness to undertake training.
• Knowledge of or capacity to quickly acquire knowledge of and use Microsoft Office
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• A willingness to work flexible hours as required
• Ability to work both independently and in a small team.
• Current driver's license and use of a comprehensively insured vehicle.
• The right to work in Australia.
