Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA) is a member-based national for purpose organisation that promotes independence and provides services to people with a spinal cord injury and other physical disabilities to assist them to achieve their goals. Working together with our customers, we aim to eliminate the barriers that prevent workplace and social inclusion for people with a spinal cord injury and other physical disabilities, ensuring that the society in which we live is accessible in every way.
We are looking for a skilled individual to fill in newly created role in our Individual Advocacy and NDIS Appeals team. The position is a fixed term contract role (20 hrs p/w part-time) for the period of 6 months. The purpose of this role is to develop a high-quality training resource in Disability Self-Advocacy to assist people with disability in Northern NSW to actively engage in their communities in a more informed and empowered way.
Outcomes of the project will include improving quality, collaboration and innovation within the sector and will help shape the development of the work that we do in support of almost 3000 members and the wider SCI and neurological community.
The role may engage directly with SCIA's membership and cohorts to ascertain views and priority areas from those living in diverse settings including community, group homes and health and rehabilitation facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong belief in pursuing equality and full inclusion for people living with SCI and other disabilities.
