Your role

As the Head of Technology and Data at the SEC, you will be at the intersection of being able to bring innovative IT solutions to meaningful challenges in renewable energy startup environment. In this key senior role, your visionary approach will be essential in building and nurturing a high-performing team, dedicated to developing IT systems and operations for our new organisation.

This role can be based in either our Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in Morwell. This role is the equivalent of a VPS SES 1.

What you will do:

  • Lead a high-performing and customer-oriented IT team to ensure overall priorities are aligned with SEC’s goals.
  • Select, implement and build IT architecture, systems and resources for the organisation.
  • Drive IT and data excellence across the organisation by implementing, maintaining and optimising systems.
  • Manage the relationship with outsourced IT services procured.
  • Establish data management frameworks and systems and ensure data is managed securely and efficiently.

Who you are:

Your capabilities and areas of expertise that matter most for this role are:

  • 10-15 years’ experience in IT, preferably at an energy company that has energy markets trading, customer, billing and settlements functions.
  • Deep understanding of operations utilising IT and data infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Australian Energy Market encompassing toles of AEMO, retailers, distributors, nulling processes and other key facets of the industry.
  • Experience in leading, managing and motivating staff to deliver major projects and objectives.
  • Proficiency in collaborating with peers to translate strategy into deliverable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing complex strategies to build buy-in and support from key internal clients and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience or understanding of Victorian Energy Market and its dynamics will be highly desirable.

We will also play an important role in helping Victorian households to reduce their energy bills and emissions by offering simple and effective solutions to help them switch to electric.   

The energy transformation will create thousands of jobs. The SEC will play a role in attracting and training our future renewable energy workforce, including through the SEC Centre of Training Excellence.
