About Red Nose

We are a national charity working to save little lives and support people impacted by the death of a baby or child. Since our ‘back to sleep’ program was first introduced in 1988, we’ve helped reduce SIDS in Australia by 80% - saving over 11,000 babies' lives and counting.

About the role

Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, the Public Relations Specialist will drive and execute the PR & media strategy. This is a varied and exciting role, with lots of opportunity for growth. A typical day could include:

  • Working on the PR strategy and content plan, to deliver brand awareness and engagement
  • Developing press releases, opinion editorials, talking points and key messages for key campaigns and activities including Red Nose Day and other national campaigns
  • Leading our media outreach, including developing and maintaining relationships with key members of the press
  • Using your analysis skills to recommend improvements

We are looking for:

  • At least 4 years' experience in public relations or communications
  • Experience managing and implementing public relations and media strategies and measuring results
  • Experience developing, cultivating and managing media relations networks
  • Experience pitching and proactively create media opportunities
  • Experience writing, editing and proofreading messages for targeted audiences
  • Proven ability to conceive and develop opinion editorials, press releases, statements, talking points, speeches, key messages, fact sheets and other materials
  • Experience using tracking and analysis to develop key insights and recommendations for improvement
  • Proven ability to craft compelling stories and content
  • Knowledge of how to manage crisis communications – messaging development, process and escalation points
