This position will be based at Croydon Health Centre.
The Statewide Intellectual Disability Metal Health Outreach Service (SIDMHOS) seeks to improve the capacity of health services to assess, manage and treat individuals with intellectual disability and mental illness and to improve specialist assessment, management and treatment options, including better referral pathways between generic and specialist treatment. The purpose of the role is to:
Provide governance and oversight of the SIDMHOS in the SLHD Mental Health Service.
To manage referrals, manage clinician training, provide clinical expertise and leadership in collaboration with the multidisciplinary SIDMHOS team clinicians.
The SIDMHOS Co-Ordinator will work collaboratively with other LHDs and help to establish the Statewide Intellectual Disability Mental Health Outreach Service for consumers of the SLHD - Mental Health Service as well as other LHDs that require specialised assessment, consultation, management and treatment options for consumers with intellectual disability and mental illness. The Co-Ordinator will ensure the provision of quality, consumer-focused, evidence-based services to all consumers, family members and carers referred to SIDMHOS.
The role will manage all referrals to the service and be responsible for organising face to face clinics and professional case conferences as well as capacity-building sessions for other services via video conference.

An appropriate degree in Nursing, Clinical Psychology or the Allied Health award and have registration and eligibility for full membership of an appropriate professional organisation. For Nursing, minimum 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field is required and must hold approved postgraduate qualifications relevant to the specialty or such other qualifications / experience deemed appropriate.
Advanced clinical knowledge, skills and experience in intellectual disability and/or mental health services as well as advance knowledge and skills in in working with families of consumers with intellectual disability and mental illness.
