SNAICC – National Voice for Our Children is growing quickly and continues to expand its policy team as it takes on many exciting systemic advocacy and research projects that will improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.

The Position

The Project Support Officer, Family Violence Prevention and Response will support the Domestic & Family Violence Prevention & Response team to work with leaders and experts in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women’s and children’s safety and promote responsive policy development.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about the rights, needs and safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children and is keen to make a difference at a national level
  • Demonstrates capability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Has strong organisational skills and previous experience in administration, project management, or executive support
  • Has strong relationship skills and excellent written and verbal communication.

About the Organisation

Established in 1981, SNAICC – National Voice for our Children is the national non-government peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. SNAICC’s vision is that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families are protected, our communities determine their own futures, and our cultural identity is valued. We work to amplify the voice of community and the sector for the fulfilment of the rights of our children.

SNAICC plays a key role in the following areas:

  • Research and policy development, with high-level leadership, policy and sector representation
  • Training and resource design, development and delivery including topics such as early childhood development, partnerships, family support, trauma, and cultural competency
  • Support for sector development, membership, and networking
