SPELD NSW is a non-profit that provides support to children and adults with specific learning difficulties, their families, tutors, teachers and school.

Role Summary

The Communications Assistant assists with SPELD NSW:

  • Newsletters, website and social media
  • Communication assets and resources
  • Print, web and video publications

Key Responsibilities

Newsletters, Website and Social Media

  • Maintenance of the SPELD NSW website including building new pages for new professional learning, resources and bookstore
  • Managing SPELD NSW social media posting software
  • Preparation of regular Professional Learning Snapshot and SPELD NSW News newsletters
  • Assistance in coordinating social media and email campaigns
  • Communications reporting to the Marketing management team

Communications Assets

  • Creation of banners and other assets to promote the work of SPELD NSW and maintenance of existing assets
  • Maintenance of SPELD NSW’s photos and images files
  • Assistance in arranging professional design and printing of marketing materials

Print, Web and Video Publications

  • Development of drafts of marketing and communications materials
  • Supporting the Professional Learning and Family Services teams in the develop new print, blog & website, social media, and video resources and promotional materials
  • Assistance with the preparation of publications including new SPELD NSW InfoSheets, the annual report and bookstore catalogue

Requirements

Essential qualities

  • Prior marketing or design work experience or training
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong inter-personal skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team as well as independently as required
  • Ability to be flexible, take initiative, organise own work and multi-task

Desirable qualities

  • Experience using Canva
  • Familiarity with the NSW educational environment and an understanding of learning difficulties
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit organisation
