We are looking for a Graphic Designer to create engaging and on-brand graphics for a variety of media. We have a range of research reports and projects that require a creative mind to bring the data to life. Please refer to our website to view examples of previous reports.

This role includes all stages of design from defining requirements, visualising data and creating graphics, through to final reporting and other outputs. We are currently refreshing our branding with a new brand strategy to be implemented in 2022. You will help shape the visual aspects of our website, client reports, social media content, marketing materials and bids. Some client projects require creating the visual identity guidelines or working within the existing project visual identity guidelines.

Your graphics should capture the attention of those who see them and communicate the right message. For this, you need to have a creative flair and a strong ability to translate requirements into design. If you can communicate well and work methodically as part of a team, we would like to meet you.

The goal is to inspire and attract the target audience. Initially we envisage the right candidate to have strong 2D graphic skills however we would encourage candidates who were looking to develop their skills in creating animated and video content.

Responsibilities:

  • Study design briefs and determine requirements
  • Schedule projects and define budget constraints
  • Conceptualise visuals based on requirements
  • Prepare rough drafts and present ideas
  • Prepare client reports
  • Develop illustrations, other materials using various software
  • Develop project specific logos and brand collateral for special projects
  • Follow brand guidelines and ensure integrity of the brand strategy
  • Create digital assets for our website and other digital channels, for promotional campaigns and branding requirements
  • Work closely with the communications team and research coordinator to produce final design
  • Amend designs after feedback
  • Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and on-brand

Requirements

  • Proven graphic designing experience
  • A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics
  • Highly competent in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.) Knowledge of Premiere Pro and After Effects would be highly regarded.
  • Ability to take a project through from concept to completion in a timely manner
  • Fundamental understanding of website maintenance
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly PowerPoint)
  • A keen eye for aesthetics and details
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously, collaboratively and methodically and meet deadlines
  • Formal qualifications in Design, Fine Arts or related field are an advantage
