Students for Sensible Drug Policy Australia

Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) Australia is a national organisation empowering student and youth participation in drug policy reform advocacy at the local, state, Commonwealth and international levels.

SSDP Australia is part of SSDP International, a global network of students and young people advocating for drug policy reforms grounded in evidence, human rights and harm reduction. Since 2016, SSDP Australia has been registered in Australia and has fostered a vast network spanning University campuses, diverse youth communities, the AOD and harm reduction sectors, research institutions, community legal centres and a wide range of policymakers.

Our Board of Directors provides governance and financial oversight, while our National Executive Committee supports and coordinates student leaders at affiliated University societies across Australia, as well as coordinating National Research and Communications teams and a range of important and exciting advocacy projects.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

SSDP Australia seeks to appoint up to three new Board Directors, including our third Board Chair, to steer the organisation's governance for a two-year term. The Board of Directors oversees strategic direction, corporate compliance, organisational risk and oversees management in accordance with ACNC Governance Standards. The Board meets monthly, on the final Tuesday of each month. Board Directors are also expected to attend an organisational planning day, at a date to be determined.

Short-listed applicants will be invited to a short interview with representatives of the Board and National Executive Committee.

Those from marginalised backgrounds, young people, people who use drugs, people of colour, including female-identifying people, and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples are encouraged to apply.

EXPERIENCE IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING WILL BE HIGHLY REGARDED:
