This role reports directly to the Medical Education Coordinator, however requires close collaboration with the Manager, Early Career Programs, Director of Pre-Vocational Training, Supervisor of Intern Training, the Medical Workforce Unit and Chief Medical Officer, among other stakeholders.
The key responsibilities of this position will be to develop, implement and evaluate educational programs for PGY1 Junior Medical Staff (Interns) at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, as guided by the Post Graduate Medical Council Victoria (PMCV) requirements for internship in Victoria. They will also have some responsibility for facilitating the continuing education of other prevocational doctors (including PGY2 and PGY3 who are not currently in vocational studies). It is expected that the Medical Education Officer, along with other members of the Medical Education team, will communicate frequently with Senior Medical Staff at SVHM, with relation to the supervision and education of these prevocational medical staff.
The Medical Education Officer role also includes the provision of ongoing pastoral care and support of a non-educational nature for junior medical staff at SVHM. This will be conducted in collaboration with other team members and key stakeholders/services across the organisation and state, as required.
All members of the Medical Education team, including the Medical Education Officer, will be responsible for supporting and promoting educational & clinical training opportunities for prevocational doctors that are aligned with national and state accreditation standards, the Australian Curriculum Framework for Junior Doctors, and that reflect the Australian Medical Council (AMC) National Intern Training Framework (NITF) global outcome statements.
