Your new role

The purpose of this position is to support the Coordinator and Deputy Coordinator in the daily operations of the op shop. You will be responsible for supporting the achievement of budgets, stock management and customer satisfaction, with an emphasis on optimising sales and revenue.

We have positions open at 2 Op Shops as below:

  • 4 days per week at the South Melbourne Op Shop - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (60.8 hours per fortnight)
  • 3 days per week at the Commercial Road Op Shop – Sunday, Monday and Tuesday (45.6 hours per fortnight)

Your day-to-day

A typical day for a store assistant involves receiving donations and pricing and sorting these for sale on the shop floor. By providing and modelling high standards of customer service you will responsible for constantly building relationships with donors, volunteers and customers. This vital role requires someone with high energy as there is a great deal of manual handling. You will be a key contributor to the success of our Op Shops.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Experienced in managing an op shop or retail outlet in fashion and/or interior design
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High level interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated experience working collaboratively with others and exercising influence in a diversity of contexts
  • Ability to participate collaboratively and constructively within teams of peers, staff and other stakeholders, as well using initiative and effective personal judgement when working alone
