Due to our recent success, we are offering a Lawyer or Associate opportunity to join our Class Actions team on a permanent basis. The team has members in both Melbourne and Sydney and candidates from either city are welcome to apply.

The Opportunity

As an emerging litigator with 2-5+ years PAE, you will have grounding in either class action or general commercial litigation. 

You can expect to work on a commercial class actions within one of Australia’s most dynamic and determined litigation teams.

This role represents a rare opportunity for a proactive, passionate and caring, driven individual to work within one of our most experienced and highly respected practice groups, and for a company that has a clear sense of purpose within the Australian legal industry.

We are open to candidates in both Melbourne or Sydney (with some expectation that travel to Melbourne will be likely if you reside in Sydney, subject to any ongoing restrictions).

Your role will include:

• Working on high profile, complex actions including consumer law and securities actions
• Drafting legal documents and correspondence in a concise and effective manner
• Assisting with group member management, with the assistance of our dedicated client engagement team
• Taking an active role in working with law clerks, paralegals and administrative professionals, as well working closely with Senior Lawyers
• Contributing to the positive and warm culture of the team

What will you bring?

Critical to your success will be your ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team to achieve successful outcomes in complex litigation matters.

You will have a proven ability in using your exceptional analytical and communication skills to achieve great litigation outcomes. Naturally, you will share our passion for social justice and possess a strong desire to champion voices not always heard.

Additionally, you will possess:

• Tertiary qualifications in Law and hold a current Practicing Certificate
• Excellent technical legal and analytical skills, including a demonstrated track record for your level producing technically excellent legal work
• Exceptional influence and negotiation skills and an ability to communicate effectively and compassionately
• Demonstrated skills in effective network and relationship management, and working as part of a team
• Ability to listen, exercise judgement and resolve problems expeditiously
• Commercial acumen and good knowledge of key issues in the class actions area
