headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds. headspace has 108 centres across Australia in metropolitan, regional and remote areas, as well as online and phone support services through eheadspace.

Learn about the position:

This role will provide a full range of medical care to young people accessing the headspace primary platform and Emerge.

The GP will engage young people to explore presenting needs in an easily accessible and youth friendly manner and will enable assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental, physical, sexual health and substance use.

In order to ensure an integrated and seamless service for our young people, the GP will also provide limited medical services to the Primary Platform consumers.

Reporting directly to the Youth Services Clinical Manager, your responsibilities will be:

• Provide high quality evidence based medical care to the patients of headspace and Emerge Edinburgh North.
• Provide skilled health assessment, diagnosis and treatment of physical, mental and sexual health issues
• Participate in organisational commitment to their continuing professional development by attending team and all of staff meetings, and staff training and development as require.
• Provide skilled health assessment, diagnosis and treatment of physical, mental and sexual health issues

Location: Position available to be based in our headspace Edinburgh North Centre.

Experience requirements:

• Demonstrated experience working within a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in working as General Practitioner in a community setting
• Experience working with young people and sound understanding of their health needs at this stage of development
• Experience working and contributing to multi-disciplinary team

Qualification requirements:

• Knowledge and experience in using the Microsoft suite of software and databases.
• Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) & Vocational Registration
• Current registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA).
