headspace Marion Community Engagement Officer - Part-time 0.4 FTE (negotiable)
Working Location: Position available to be based at our headspace Marion Centre
Thank you for your interest in applying for the position of headspace Marion Community Engagement Officer.
The headspace Marion Community Engagement Officer will initially play a role in the establishment of the new centre as part of the ‘service establishment’ phase. This will involve project planning, partnership development and formalisation of partnership arrangements; assisting with the securing of suitable premises and fit out of the premises particularly in relation to working with young people in the Marion LGA to receive their feedback as to the site and fitout ; development and updating of any site specific policies, protocols, procedures and supporting systems; recruitment of young people and family members/carers to join centre based reference groups; stakeholder engagement, awareness raising activities prior to headspace Marion Centre services being made available to the public.
During the service delivery phase (after the centre has been developed and is operational, the Community Engagement Officer will work as part of a multidisciplinary mental health team to plan, organise and implement centre engagement activities for headspace Marion. The Community Engagement Officer will support the services through community engagement and participation activities and develop resources that supports enhancement of mental health literacy and reduce stigma related to mental illness in the wider community.
The Community Engagement Officer will also provide education, service information and present on relevant mental health topics to relevant community organisations, including schools and other groups. The Community Engagement Officer will also have responsibility for volunteer groups and committees including the headspace Marion Youth Reference Group and Family and Friends Reference Group.
The Community Engagement Officer will facilitate centre engagement groups and will be supported by the centre’s volunteers and other centre staff where applicable. A key component of the Community Engagement Officer role will assist the centre with the management of partnerships and service linkages to provide appropriate pathways for the service to ensure there is early intervention, responsive, and recovery focused care for young people aged 12 – 25 years. This includes support of headspace Marion’s Consortium and Project Partners.
