Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association has been helping Queenslanders with a disability lead active, healthy lives and achieve their sporting dreams since 1977. Throughout that time, we have inspired success in para sports from social community programs to Paralympic success.

We support the full variety of active goals people have, from increasing their mobility and independence, improving their health, socialising, participating recreationally, through to representing their State or Country.

We are excited to be expanding our team and looking for our next super star to join in the role of Philanthropy Specialist.

This role will be based in Brisbane and plays a key role in support of Sporting Wheelies partnerships and fundraising agenda, working collaboratively with the leadership team. You will research grant opportunities and write compelling grant proposals to acquire funding.

Further duties include:

  • Research, identify and qualify funding opportunities from government, individual donors, philanthropic trusts and foundations, sporting events and community participation sources.
  • Maintain and expand income by overseeing the philanthropic activities including research and prospecting, proposal and report writing and stewardship activities.
  • Targeted desk-based research of potential funders (e.g. Trusts, Foundations, High Net Worth individuals and government); and the preparation, writing and delivery of successful funder submissions.
  • Engage wide-ranging and targeted research from internal and external resources to inform and support the identification and conversion of funder targets. Funder submissions and reports.
  • Interpret subject content and develop into persuasive written form for funder proposals, drawing on existing submission and marketing materials, and creating copy where relevant.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in creative writing or related field e.g. Journalism, Arts, Business, Marketing, Communications, Social Sciences
  • Previous experience in the research and preparation of successful philanthropic grant submissions within a not-for-profit, social sector context or equivalent
  • Successful track record with philanthropic grant writing
  • Experience in report writing and acquittals.

Role Requirements:

  • Current Blue Card (working with children check)
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (working with people with a disability)
  • Current first aid certificate with CPR or willingness to undertake training
  • Current driver licence and willingness to drive Association vehicles (preferred)
