About us:

The St Vincent de Paul Society aspires to be recognised as a caring Catholic charity offering ‘a hand up’ to people in need. We do this by respecting their dignity, sharing our hope and encouraging them to take control of their destiny by providing practical support, advocacy and friendship.

The Society is one of the most recognised and highly regarded charitable organisations that has been providing support to Victorians for 160 years.

We operate over 100 retail shops throughout Victoria, commonly called “Vinnies” that raise much needed funds to support those who are vulnerable in the community.

Vinnies is much more than a retail store.

Learn more about Vinnies!

St Vincent de Paul Society has over 110 retail shops across Victoria known as “Vinnies”, selling new and pre-loved fashion and homewares.

The beauty of our Vinnies Shops is that you never know what unique and special treasures you might find!

Over 12 million items were sold within our retail shops last year, which saved 12 million items from going to landfill!

The proceeds from items sold in our shops go directly into our communities to help support some of the most vulnerable people that may be experiencing hardship and loneliness.

Across 9 Soup Vans we were able to provide over 88 thousand meals to people that would have potentially gone hungry.

40,000 calls for welfare assistance were answered last year in our Call Centre and assistance was given in the form of material goods, food vouchers and of course a compassionate ear.

Our 5 Education Programs offered reading, companionship, and homework help to 977 students who attended the programs in 2019. None of this would be possible without our Vinnies Shops.
