Then you could be our next Vinnies Soup Van Manager!

As the Soup Van Manager, you will provide support and resources to our Vinnies Soup Vans located across Victoria. Coordinating with our team, you will lead, create, and implement systems designed to boost the mission of our Soup Vans. You will be an integral component of the day-to-day running of the program as you help coordinate volunteer recruitment, workforce planning, and policy development.

The role will be based both in Central Office and out at the various Soup Van locations across Victoria.

A Little Bit About Us

Currently operating from Berwick, Inner City, Dandenong, Endeavour Hills, Footscray, Moe, Rosebud and Traralgon our service is developing and expanding.

We have more than 1,300 dedicated volunteers grouped into teams and headed by a soup van president for each operation. More than 250,000 meals are served annually and the soup vans run 365 days a year – rain, hail or shine. Volunteers provide soup, sandwiches, fruit and other food and drinks at public locations advertised on our website, as well as boarding and rooming houses, crisis accommodation, social housing and other residential locations.

About You

  • You will have exceptional people and coaching skills, outstanding written and verbal communication skills and be highly skilled at forging internal and external relationships;
  • With strong time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and balance priorities, you will be able to work well under pressure and can demonstrate innovative practical problem-solving skills;
  • Innovative practical problem-solving skills;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Management, Community Development, Welfare or equivalent, a minimum 3 years leadership experience in Community sector;
  • A demonstrated history of being able to effectively work with a large volunteer base in team structures.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this role, you will need to have a driver’s license, a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and up-to-date COVID Vaccination certification or exemption to the satisfaction of SVDP. A Food Safety Certificate will also be required, but we can assist you with this if you don’t have it. You must also complete a national police check issued by SVDP – the organisation will cover the cost.
