We are looking for a professional and reliable Disability Support Officer to join our team at Sunflower Support Services.
The successful candidate will be assisting our participants to access the community, develop skills combined with assistance in and with their homes.
Experience in the Mental Health sector is highly preferred.
Disability support officer will be expected to manage the challenging and concerning behaviours, in conjunction with seeking assistance or direction from their up-line.
Duties include assisting with NDIS participants' needs and planning, monitoring and reporting on the progress of the participants. The Disabilities Support Officer will need to assist participants with community participation and find resources as needed for their health, welfare, housing, employment, training etc, liaise with community groups and welfare agencies as needed.
To give you a sense of what the day to day job may look like, here are some examples of things that we might do with our participants:
Successful applicants will be available over a 24-hour roster, 7 days per week inclusive of inactive overnight shifts.
A range of conditions experienced by our participants in the community includes Schizophrenia, Depression, Anxiety, Psychosis, and other psychiatric conditions. It is important for staff values to align with our mission and beliefs in that every person that we serve is individual as are their needs and presentations of conditions.
This job requires you to provide in-home and outdoor support, so you will have to travel to the client's location.
We are looking for someone who has knowledge about basic PTSD and complex conditions.
The successful candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, team spirit and a willingness to work with people with disabilities. A qualification in disability services or a related field is a plus.
